Swiss maintenance and interiors specialist AMAC Aerospace has acquired 6,400m² (69,000ft²) of land at Milas Bodrum airport in Turkey, on which it plans to build a new aircraft maintenance hangar.
The new structure will complement AMAC’s 85,000m² completions and MRO facility at its Basel airport headquarters.
When it opens in November this year, the 4,000m² Bodrum base will have the capacity to house two VIP narrowbody airliners – such as a Boeing Business Jet or Airbus ACJ319 – simultaneously.
AMAC says it will provide line and base maintenance for a range of aircraft including the Dassault Falcon 2000 and 900-series business jets and the Pilatus PC-12 single-engined turboprop, for which AMAC is the Middle Eastern sales agent.
In March, the company delivered the first aircraft from a two-unit order to Abu Dhabi start-up GI Aviation, which is gearing up to launch charter services from its Al Bateen airport base in the second half of 2016. GI is scheduled to receive its second eight-seat PC-12NG (pictured) in the fourth quarter.
